- as needed scallions
- as needed ginger
- as needed salt
- as needed thirteen-spice powder
- as needed white pepper
- as needed light soy sauce
- as needed sesame oil
- as needed avocado oil
- as needed all-purpose flour
- as needed water
- as needed parchment paper
Instructions
- Wash the fennel thoroughly and drain well. Clean and peel the scallions and ginger. Place the ground pork in a large bowl.
- Mince the scallions and ginger into fine pieces.
- Season the pork with salt, thirteen-spice powder, white pepper, light soy sauce, sesame oil, and avocado oil (other cooking oils work too). Add the minced scallions and ginger to the pork and mix well.
- Add the chopped fennel to the bowl and stir until evenly combined.
- Continue mixing until the filling is well incorporated, as shown.
- Prepare store-bought dumpling wrappers along with some flour and a small bowl of water. Lightly dampen the edges of the wrappers with water before sealing to prevent the dumplings from breaking open. Place parchment paper on your work surface, dust lightly with flour, and start wrapping the dumplings.
- Wrap the dumplings as shown.
- Boil the dumplings until cooked through — absolutely delicious! 😋
- The fresh flavor of fennel bursts through with every bite — it tastes like spring.
