College senior with a tiny dorm kitchen and big ambitions. Ramen, jollof rice experiments, and everything with too much garlic. Learning as I go, mostly burning toast.

Dorm kitchen approved! Only had a hot plate and a small pot but the wings still got golden and shiny from the cola braise. Went heavy on the garlic because obviously, and honestly 10/10 for a guy whose usual specialty is burnt toast.

Made these in my dorm with a hot plate and somehow they worked. Doubled the garlic because obviously, and the cumin smell had my whole hall knocking on my door. Lost a star because deep-frying in that tiny setup was chaos and I scorched the first batch.

Dorm kitchen miracle — my roommate came in asking what smelled so good and it was just beef cubes and a whole garlic situation in one pan. The cornstarch marinade actually made cheap beef taste tender, and frying the garlic first then tossing it back with butter was a genius move. Took me two batches because I crowded the pan the first time, but even the slightly steamed batch was delicious.

Dorm kitchen, one hot plate, three hours of simmering... honestly worth every minute. The cold-water soak trick really worked, the beef came out fall-apart tender even in my janky little pot. Also I doubled the garlic because I always do and zero regrets.

Dorm kitchen win! Didn't have a real wok so I used my biggest pan and cranked the heat as high as it would go, and the beef still came out tender from the marinade. The scallion-garlic-chili mix smelled so good my roommate came out of his room. Next time I'm doubling the garlic because that's just who I am.

Made this in my sad little dorm wok and honestly? It worked. The rock sugar caramel freaked me out a little but once the chicken went in golden it smelled incredible, and I added like double the garlic because obviously. Four stars because my dorm smoke alarm has opinions about searing chicken indoors.

Dorm kitchen survival win! I don't have a real wok so I used my biggest skillet and cranked the burner all the way up, and the beef still came out way more tender than my usual attempts. Only had regular soy sauce so I skipped the dark stuff, but that glossy oyster sauce situation over instant rice? Absolutely making this again.

Made this in my dorm with one wobbly burner and it actually worked! The velveting with sweet potato starch is legit—beef came out way more tender than my usual sad stir-fry attempts. I doubled the garlic like always and regret nothing.
