This cozy one-pot rice comes together with just a rice cooker: marinated beef is quickly stir-fried with vegetables, then cooked on top of the rice for a fuss-free meal.

    Marinating ↗

Prepare all the ingredients. Rinse the beef and slice it thinly. Marinate the beef with the ginger paste, cracked black pepper, cornstarch, and cooking oil for 15 minutes.

✅ Done when: The beef slices have rested in the marinade for 15 minutes and are evenly coated.

Heat some oil in a wok or skillet, add the onion and sauté until fragrant. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until it changes color, then turn off the heat. Add the corn, diced carrot, light soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and salt, and mix everything evenly.

✅ Done when: The beef is no longer pink and the mixture is evenly combined with the seasonings.

    Step 3

Rinse the rice and add an appropriate amount of water (the author measures by hand — the water should not rise past the back of the hand over the rice). Pour into the rice cooker and press the cook-rice button.

✅ Done when: The rice cooker finishes its cooking cycle and the rice is tender and cooked through.

  4. 4

    Step 4

Once the rice is done, sprinkle in a little chopped scallion if you like, mix everything together, and serve.

✅ Done when: The beef, vegetables, and rice are evenly mixed and ready to eat.
