When you need a quick and tasty breakfast for work, this recipe is perfect! As a big fan of burgers, I love experimenting with different fillings, and since burgers and sandwiches are quite similar in some ways, I thought I’d give making my own filling a try. I added my specialty sausages to it as […]
| Ingredient | Amount |
|---|---|
| Bread slices | 4 as needed |
| Lettuce | 1-2 |
| Tomato | 1 small (or 1/4 large) |
| Cheese slices | 2 as needed |
| Red sausage (Russian-style) | 1 small |
| Hard-boiled eggs | 2 as needed |
| Pickled cucumbers (gherkins) | 4 as needed |
| Heinz mayonnaise | to taste |
| Heinz honey mustard sauce | to taste |

Gather all ingredients 🥗

Chop the lettuce, dice the tomato and red sausage into thumbnail-sized pieces for better texture 👌🏻. Boil the eggs and set aside.

Make the pickled cucumber mustard sauce ◔.̮◔✧ Finely dice the pickled cucumbers (finer than the other ingredients), mix with 2 tbsp honey mustard sauce and 2 tbsp of the pickled cucumber jar liquid. Stir to combine.

The sauce should be thick enough not to drip — if too thin, add more mustard; if too thick, add more pickle liquid.

Pour the pickled cucumber mustard sauce into the chopped ingredients, then add Heinz mayonnaise! The creamy savory flavor pairs beautifully with the egg.

Love the piping tip design on Heinz mayo — such pretty stripes! 👀

Put on gloves and mash everything together with your hands! 👿 Super satisfying — like playing with slime 😋 Crushing the eggs by hand tastes much better than chopping them! The crumbly yolk mixed with mayo is heavenly.

Mix until everything is well combined!

Time to assemble 🥪 Lay down a lettuce leaf on the bread.

Spread the mixed filling evenly over the bread, then top with a slice of cheese.

Cover with the top slice of bread and press down firmly. Make sure the pickle mustard sauce is thick enough so it doesn’t leak out! 😭

Dip the top bread slice in beaten egg, and brush the edges with egg wash too.

Air fry at 180°C (350°F) for 8 minutes.

Done! ✨ The toasty aroma hits you as soon as it comes out 🥰 Perfect with a glass of warm milk — pure happiness ੧ᐛ੭

Alternatively, pan-fry the bread slices separately first, then assemble the sandwich (don’t flip the whole assembled sandwich — the filling will fall out!!). Pan-fried version gives a stronger egg flavor on the crust, while the air fryer gives a deeper toasted bread aroma. Choose whichever you prefer!
