A delicious Crucian Carp, Black Bean and Peanut Soup recipe.

Wash all ingredients thoroughly. Make sure to clean the black membrane inside the fish belly, otherwise it will taste fishy.

Place black beans, peanuts, and red dates in a clay pot with water and bring to a boil. Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan over high heat, add a pinch of salt, and fry the fish until golden brown on both sides. This step makes the soup sweeter and more flavorful.

Transfer the fried fish into the boiling clay pot. Reduce to low heat and simmer for about one hour.

Once the soup has thickened and become rich, season with salt to taste and serve hot. Drink it while it’s hot to avoid any fishy taste. If you are concerned about fish bones, you can place the fish in a soup bag before cooking. Adjust the method to your preference.
