Pan-Fried Tofu (Home Style)
Ingredients
- 1 block firm tofu
- 3 garlic cloves
- 3-4 bird's eye chili
- 1 garlic scapes
Instructions
- Pan-fry tofu until golden brown on both sides. Remove and set aside.
- Heat oil in the wok, add minced garlic and bird's eye chili. Stir-fry until fragrant. Add 1 tbsp light soy sauce and half tbsp dark soy sauce.
- Add 1 tbsp oyster sauce.
- Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Add half bowl of water, then add the fried tofu.
- Simmer for about 2 minutes, then drizzle in a little starch water to thicken the sauce.
- Cook for 30 seconds to reduce the sauce. Add garlic scapes before serving (optional — I had some leftover, adds nice color. Scallions work great too!).
- This really goes through a lot of rice!
