Instructions

  1. Cut the beef into small cubes. Add oyster sauce, light soy sauce, chicken bouillon, seven-spice powder, and black pepper — mix well. Then add a small amount of cornstarch and mix again. Finally, coat with a little cooking oil to seal in the marinade.
  2. Sear the beef cubes in a hot pan until about medium-rare (50% cooked). As soon as you see juices rising, transfer to a plate and set aside.
  3. Sweet & Sour Version: Mix sugar (3 tbsp), vinegar (3 tbsp), ketchup (2 tbsp), and water (3 tbsp) until combined. Bring the sauce to a boil in a pan, thicken with a little cornstarch slurry, then toss in the pineapple and beef cubes. Stir to coat and serve.
  4. Black Pepper Version: Heat oil in a wok, sauté minced garlic, ginger, and diced onion until fragrant. Add black pepper sauce and a splash of water, bring to a boil, then thicken with cornstarch slurry. Add the pineapple and beef cubes, toss well, and serve.
