Quick Sichuan Peppercorn Tofu Salad
Ingredients
- 1 block firm tofu
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 tbsp light soy sauce
- 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
- a pinch cilantro
- a pinch garlic chives
- a pinch dried chili peppers
- a pinch Sichuan peppercorns
Instructions
- Prepare a block of firm tofu and break it into bite-sized pieces by hand.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil, add a pinch of salt, and blanch the tofu for one minute. This removes the beany flavor and makes the tofu softer and tastier.
- In a bowl, combine 2 tablespoons light soy sauce, 1 tablespoon oyster sauce, 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce, and a few dried chili peppers.
- Add cilantro and garlic chives to the bowl.
- Heat oil in a wok over medium heat, then add Sichuan peppercorns and fry until fragrant.
- Pour the hot peppercorn oil into the seasoning bowl to release the aromas.
- Drizzle the seasoned oil over the tofu and serve immediately.
