Sweet and Sour Crispy Tofu
Ingredients
- 1 tofu
- 10g cornstarch
- a pinch scallion
- 5g sugar
- 1 vinegar
- 3 tomato sauce
- 1 light soy sauce
- 1g salt
- 1 egg
- 1 oyster sauce
- 0.5 dark soy sauce
- 1 minced garlic
Instructions
- Tofu made this way is so good you would not trade it for meat. Absolutely delicious with rice!
- Cut the tofu into thick slices. Coat both sides with cornstarch, then dip in beaten egg. Heat oil in a pan to about 60% hot. Add the tofu and pan-fry over low heat until both sides are golden. Remove and set aside.
- Make the sauce: in a bowl, combine minced garlic, 1 tbsp light soy sauce, 1 tsp oyster sauce, 0.5 tbsp dark soy sauce, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp cornstarch, 3 tbsp tomato sauce, and a splash of water. Stir well. Leave a little oil in the pan, add the fried tofu, pour in the sauce, and simmer over low heat until thickened. Sprinkle with scallions before serving.
